Dreaming of the outdoors.

I always dreamed of having my own acreage that could serve as a place to get away. I lived in Brooklyn for most of my 20's and I found myself going to Prospect Park daily just to breathe deeply and get my nervous system back at baseline. Back in my hometown now, and I want this for myself, but mostly for my three boys. We live on one of the busiest streets in Dayton. I wanted to have a space that was quiet, away from the constant stimulation of technology, social pressures and work. A space that they could learn to be confident outdoors, grow their skill set and build upon their character as they grow from young children into adults. This goal moved quickly to the top of my priority list when the global pandemic hit in 2020, and the 8-acre parcel was discovered and purchased in 2021. Rye Camp was born! This place was clean and surrounded by farmland.

A family project built with love

My partner, Jason, has been an integral member of the Rye Camp team, working himself silly to create trails, maintain the entire camp, build a chicken coop, develop and lead academic programs for area schools (he has a background in early childhood education) and much, much more. We are an amazing team and we absolutely love what Rye Camp has become. A place for us to escape; a place to bring our large, blended family; a place to share with others and finally...a place that holds all the magic in the world and is just about as stable and relaxing as it is woodsy. We invite you to come join us for our seasonal bonfires, special events or to just camp there with your favorite people.

xoxo,
Lena
